Refund Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

We've designed Kornet so the scan itself is free: you're only charged if we find malware or need to take a closer look at some files. This policy explains when a charge happens, and how we handle refunds after.

1. The scan is free — you only pay if we find something

The scan itself is free and requires no card — nothing is collected while we scan your site. Only if we find malware or need to take a closer look at some files do we ask for payment: we show you exactly what we found and collect a one-time $70 (plus any overage on unusually large or heavily infected sites) at a single checkout. Up to that point you can stop for any reason — close the tab, decline to continue, or change your mind — and you pay nothing. Approve the checkout and we clean your site; decline and you walk away at no cost. After a cleanup has been charged, refunds are handled as described below.

If, during the scan, we find that your site needs significantly more work than a standard cleanup, we show you the exact price before any charge. You choose to continue at that price or walk away at no cost.

2. After a cleanup has run

Once a cleanup has begun and you've been charged, you may request a refund by emailing us within 7 days of the charge. Refunds are not automatic. We review every request individually, and the outcome depends on what was and wasn't cleaned on your site:

  • If we were unable to clean your site at all, you're eligible for a full refund.
  • If your site was partially cleaned, you may be eligible for a partial refund that reflects the portion of work not completed.
  • If you were charged but the cleanup found little to remove, the charge reflects the closer look and cleanup work that ran; we'll consider a refund individually based on the circumstances.
  • If your site was cleaned as described, the cleanup has been delivered and is generally not refundable.

3. Why a completed cleanup may not be fully refundable

Each cleanup consumes real computing and processing resources, and that cost is incurred the moment work begins — it can't be recovered once a site has been scanned and cleaned. For that reason we're upfront that a completed cleanup may not be eligible for a full refund. We'd rather tell you this plainly than surprise you later.

4. Situations that are not eligible for a refund

  • Broken or non-functioning sites you chose to clean anyway. Kornet removes malware; it does not repair broken websites. If we detect that your site may already be broken, we warn you before continuing. If you choose to proceed, that cleanup is not eligible for a refund.
  • Requests made more than 7 days after the charge.
  • A cleanup that completed and removed malware as described. Disliking the result after the work was delivered is not, on its own, grounds for a full refund.
  • Issues outside the scope of a malware cleanup — for example site performance, design, hosting problems, or future re-infection from a new attack.

5. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] within 7 days of the charge and include:

  • The website address (URL) you cleaned
  • The email address you used for the cleanup
  • A short description of the problem and what outcome you expected

We aim to respond within a few business days. We may ask a follow-up question or two so we can review fairly. If a refund is approved, it's issued to your original payment method through our payment processor, Stripe, and can take several business days to appear depending on your bank.

6. Chargebacks

If you believe you're owed a refund, please contact us first — we genuinely want to make it right. Opening a chargeback before reaching out can delay resolution, and we reserve the right to contest chargebacks for cleanups that were delivered as described.
